Small business owners can benefit from a half-day webinar on preparing technical project description proposals for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. The webinar, titled “Crafting Winning SBIR/STTR Proposals: A Deep Dive into Technical Project Descriptions” will be held on Wednesday, July 16.
The webinar will focus on developing clear, data-backed problem statements; identifying unmet needs; defining SMART technical objectives; and preparing a well-written and well-defined research strategy that provides reviewers with a compelling story and demonstrates a team’s capabilities to perform the project.
During the webinar, participants will learn how to:
- Develop a strong proposal that captures the essence of their innovative idea
- Identify the most effective ways to address the problem statement
- Define technical objectives that are clearly measurable and achievable
- Prepare a comprehensive research strategy that showcases the team’s capabilities
The webinar will be led by Jim Greenwood, a nationally recognized trainer and proposal reviewer for the SBIR and STTR programs.
Greenwood will provide a brief overview of SBIR/STTR, agency differences and a grant versus a contract; how to decide the focus of a proposal; how to find innovative solutions; proving the feasibility of a proposal; defining tasks to achieve the aims and objectives of a proposal; and fleshing out a proposal with biographies, budgets and foreign relationships.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by the University of Wyoming (UW) with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
